La 33° edizione della Fiera Internazionale del Libro di Sharjah negli Emirati ha ospitato secondo stime ufficiali oltre 465.000 visitatorinei soli primi due giorni, record nella storia della manifestazione.
Il grande successo è stato possibile grazie all’immensa offerta di eventi organizzati durante i 10 giorni della Fiera. Molti gli autori di best seller internazionali presenti come Dan Brown e l’indiano Tabish Khair, che ha presentato la sua ultima fatica “How to Fight Islamist Terror“.
Il libro per cui Cat Stevens è stato premiato
Tanti anche i premi assegnati nei primi giorni come il “Best Emirati Book” vinto da Souad Al Arimi con “Draib Al Ghawyat” e il curioso riconoscimento del “Best Foreign Book” andato al libro “Why I Still Carry a Guitar” di Yusuf Islam meglio noto come Cat Stevens.
I genitori ed i loro bambini hanno ricevuto una particolare attenzione al fine di incoraggiare i bambini a diventare lettori accaniti. Dal 8 novembre al 11 una sessione affronterà questo tema in profondità con consigli su perché i genitori dovrebbero rilanciare l’antica pratica della lettura ai loro figli.

- Best Creative Emiarti Book by Emirati Author: Dr. Souad Al Arimi for her novel Draib Al Ghawyat (Routes of the Seduced)
- Best Emiarti Academic Book: Dr. Youssef AL Hasan, for his book What culture and What Citizen Do we wish for in the future?
- Best Emiarti Book – published in the UAE: The book Live from the UAE, published by Al Bayan Newspaper
- Best Arabic Book – Fiction: Mansoura Izzeddin for her book Jebel Al Zumurrud
- Best Foreign Book – Fiction: David Baldacci for his book The Finisher
- Best Foreign Book – non-Fiction: Youssef Islam for his book Why I Still Carry a Guitar
- Best Arabic Book – Children Books: Julia Johnson for her book The Turtle Secret
